2/21_Class Session (North Market)

Sketch Count: 100

This week we drew caricature gestures at the North Market, which has been by far my favorite experience! Just seeing all the different body shapes has me excited about drawing! It was tough at times to get the gesture down fast enough since everyone was constantly on the move around the marketplace or being blocked from my view by crowds of people. But overall, a very good learning experience for figuring out better ways to get the gesture down quick!

2/14_Class Session (Chiller)

Sketch Count: 100

It was great to see the difference in skating between the free skate times and the figure skating session. A pose I really struggled with was a spread leg skating pose though. I'll have to attempt figuring it out next time some more.

2/14_Homework (Olympic Sport)

Sketch Count: 50

Following the fast pace of the skaters and their various movements was difficult,  especially with the camera angles constantly changing during their routines. Having the TV go back and show a slowed down view of them skating was very easy to work with though!

2/9_Homework (Dancers)

Sketch Count: 50

For homework the task was to draw a specific form of dancing from a video/DVD/youtube/etc. I chose to draw from a dance number in the King and I called 'Small House of Uncle Thomas', which is a play within the actual play. The dance poses are very angular and focused on balance, which I felt would be fun to tackle. It was pretty easy to grasp the poses since they're normally held for a longer period of time. Especially for the background dancers. Simon of Legrees segment was difficult however because he is constantly moving and twisting everywhere.

2/7_Class Session (Ballet Met)

Gesture Count: 76

Figuring out how the dancers twisted their muscle structure in the body was tough. Especially since they moved so fast, seeing the bending or curve of the spine was tough.

1/31_Class Session

The poses from the model were very similar, Each time he would get a different prop.  It helped with figuring out where his weight lied in each pose however. I wish there was more variation however...
